Seductive – digital art tutorial

Step 1

Create a new document in photoshop 1900×1436 and add a radial Gradient Fill layer using the adjustments icon located on the bottom of the layers palette next to the folder icon.

Step 2

Open the woman stock image and use the Pen Tool (P) to subtract her from the original background. You should do this on the original photo because the resolution is higher and you will be more accurate. Once you did that paste the woman on a new layer above the Gradient Fill layer created on step 1.

Decrease the size and rotete it like in the screenshot below. I wanted to recreate the shadow under the foot that touches the ground so I painted it on a new layer below the woman layer. Turn the woman to black and white. I used an Adjustment Layer because that way I can make adjustments along the way if I need to.

Step 3

Create a new layer and name it colors. Change the Blending Mode to Screen and get a 500-700 pixels soft brush and paint three lights like in the screenshot below. Colors used: Orange – f8b213, Pink – fa125e, Blue – 0ab4f3.

Step 4

Open the decorative vector, paste in on a new layer and name it floral1. The blending mode of the floral1 layer is Color Dodge. Use a layer mask to hide the part that goes over the hands. Using a clipping mask layer with Overlay blending mode, I painted with a big soft brush on the right side of the floral to make it brighter.

Step 5

Now, start adding some details. Use the Line Tool (U), set the Weight to 1px and your foreground to white. Draw a line parallel to the ropes and use the gradient tool on a layer mask or a big soft eraser to fade away both ends.

On another layer use the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L) to draw a selection along the ropes like in the image below. Than use a big soft brush and brush outside the selection but close to the edge and get a white soft gradient line. Again use a big soft eraser and fade away the endings.

Step 6

Open the ornament2.png image and paste it on a new layer. Change the blending mode to Color Dodge and use a layer mask to hide unwanted areas. If the floral is too dark, use levels to increase the mid tones a bit, otherwise the Color Dodge blending mode will not work well.

Step 7

Make two white circles using the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M), change the Blending Mode to Soft Light. Use Radial Gradient to mask them like in the image below.

Step 8

Open the ornament3.png image and paste it above the layers created on step 7. Change the Blending Mode to Color Dodge and use layer mask to hide some areas over the hands.Try to mimic the movement of the ornament, like it’s going behind and over the hand.

Step 9

Now you have to make a custom scattered brush. Select a circular hard brush about 70px in diameter and press F5 to open the brush editor. Activate Shape Dynamics and increase Size Jitter to maximum. Activate Scattering and set it to maximum too. On Other Dynamics set Opacity to about 50%. Now paint some random circular shapes and set the layer Blending Mode to Soft Light.

Step 10

Use the same brush as on step 9 but deactivate Other Dynamics and set hardness to 0. This time use a Normal Blending Mode.

Step 11

Select a brush from the High Resolution Lines set and paint with white on a new layer. Use a layer mask and a big soft brush to hide the lines that go over the woman’s body. Set the layer Blending Mode to Soft Light and decrease opacity to 60-70%. See screenshot below.

Step 12

Create two more gradients using the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L) and a soft brush like shown in step 5. Set the Blending Mode to Soft Light.
